Larry Page takes over as Google's new CEO

With the ink on the Press Release hardly dry, Google co-founder, Larry Page (yes, the very man who lent his name to Google's PageRank) is taking over the help with the intent to steer the company faster and truer than it has been steered before.

Not that Google has ever let grass grow beneath its heels, but under departing SEO Eric Schmidt's more relaxed management style the company missed the advent of the real-time web and the success of both Twitter and Facebook took it by surprise.

It is expected that under Page's steerage Google will be just as fast and more focused than it has been to date. I predicted that 2011 is going to be the year of SEO and so far changes have come thick and fast. I suspect that this is just the beginning and with Page leading the company Google's surprises for 2011 have only just begun.
