Google Launches Facebook Rival

In case you were getting bored with the way the year has been shaping up online, Google soft-launched Google + its social network challenge to Facebook.

Having learnt from its own mistakes in the field (remember the failed Google Wave and the privacy embarrassment with Google Buzz?) and having recently got its act together with a new CEO at the helm Google unveiled its +1 Button and set about carefully integrating social media elements and SEO.

Google+ is not going to go away and it will play a pivotal role in SEO and social media marketing in the second half of this year. Looks like the year ahead, improbably, got even livelier.
