With Google posting over $9 billion in the first Quarter, CEO Larry Page made the announcement on Google+ and gave some metrics regarding the reach of Google+ and the uptake on the Google +1 button. These are important because they, inevitably, factor into all SEO activities.
So here’s the list:
1. Over 10M people have joined Google+ in just two weeks of Beta
2. Over 1 billion items are shared and received in a single day on Google+.
3. The Google +1 button is already all over the web. It is currently being served 2.3 billion times a day.
Google is breaking records in other areas too Larry Page reported:
1. 550,000 Android devices were activated in a single day.
2. Chrome is the fastest growing browser with over 160 million users.
In terms of how all this affects you practically, think that with Chrome usage expanding so fast your website needs to be Chrome compliant. Mobile search is an area which you need to keep in mind as you work to build your online business.
Google+ should also factor highly in your calculations. Links pasted on the social network stream are indexed fast. The Google +1 button is drawing a lot of attention in terms of content and traffic and it is playing a role in search results relevance through Google +1 button recommendation.
This week I came across a heartfelt post by Beau Brendler on the quality of pages produced by search. His particular issues was that while trying to find something relevant on kidney stones and while suffering physically and...
