The latest news coming out of Comscore shows that Google now accounts for some 58.5% of all US searches which means that a full six out of every ten people use the Google page to start a search and get results from Google’s main database of indexed (and Google optimised) websites.
While this is great news for all of you webmasters who have been focusing on Google for your search engine optimisation efforts it is not so good in terms of Google Index crowding. It means a couple of important things. First, the Google database has now become the primary means of finding an online business which depends on being found by those looking for the service or product in order to survive. It also means that as it is physically impossible for all websites to rank high on Google more and more emphasis is going to be paid on every single aspect of search engine optimisation and some sites which are not as clued up as they should be will fall out of the index or start to show up on the ever growing Google Supplementary Index.
This means that more than ever before the success of your website relies on how well it has been optimised to show on the Google organic search engine results page (SERPs). It also means that unless you are really careful with your time, have strategised your online publicity and search engine marketing correctly and have allocated strict time schedules for your SEO activities you will find yourself chasing your tail, spending more and more time doing optimisation activities and see only diminishing returns.
For Help My SEO it means we will now start to also tell you how to best work to search engine market (SEM) your website so that your SEO work pays off in more than just one way. We have also covered the importance of the latest Comcast report in our subscription-led SEO News section which gives you an analysis and a more in-depth picture of what the trends now show.
