For those of us who use Google to find out where our nearest pizza restaurant is anywhere it makes perfect sense that Google want to give us the same kind of utility outside the confines of PCs, laptops and PDAs.
The relatively innocuous appearance of a small ‘g’ as opposed to the large ‘G’ many of us had come to associate with Google’s fav icon is actually a significant change of the search giant’s attention towards the mobile phone market .
With mobile phones outnumbering PCs and laptops by nearly 2:1 and many of them gravitating towards mini-computer interactivity Google analysts foresee a time when Google search will be an invisible web connecting everything, everywhere where Google’s bots exist.
The question here is should you as webmaster’s do anything differently? In terms of SEO the answer is clearly no. Google’s mobile search is going to draw from the same quality indexing that Google shows on your laptop or PC. What is important here however is the thinking that goes into your website’s design elements. Like Google which gravitated towards a specific shape and a specific colour the elements you decide to put in your website may work against you when they show up on a three inch wide screen making it difficult for mobile browsers to handle and mobile phone owners to navigate.
